This fall, I had the opportunity to work as a copywriter for Delicious Digital Marketing to help launch a new brand. My 6-week internship included one-on-one mentorship and hands-on work experience in a fast-changing environment. I am very grateful for the team’s dedication to expanding my knowledge of strategic communication, content writing and editing, marketing strategy, and research.
As the copywriter, I was responsible for incorporating our brand promise, voice, and tone into creative and technical copy to promote our new brand and its services. I developed copy across a variety of mediums to communicate our brand’s promise and unique services. My work ranged from website copy and social ads to email marketing and SEO. I was able to see my ideas implemented in the real world. Working closely with the Digital Marketing Manager, Makenzie, I expanded both my creative and technical writing skills to reach our target audience effectively and consistently. The one-on-one mentorship allowed me to ask questions and further explore areas I found interesting. After completing my undergraduate degree in advertising, I am pursuing a master’s in technical communication. Makenzie introduced me to the technical writing side of marketing, including copy for PPC advertising, SEO campaigns, and meta descriptions used to increase search results. She was passionate about sharing her knowledge and expertise with me during our weekly meetings.
This internship provided me with resume and portfolio-building experience while allowing me to be part of an incredible team. I learned so much during my time here it’s hard to believe it was only six weeks. As someone who had no prior experience at an agency, I completed the program feeling confident in my communication, writing, and collaboration skills.
